Dù ngành công nghiệp xuất bản ngày càng phát triển, số lượng nhà văn trên thế giới ngày càng đông đảo, nhưng các tác phẩm cổ điển vẫn giữ vị thế lấn lướt trong bảng xếp hạng danh giá này. Tác phẩm kinh điển được tái sinh một phần nhờ điện ảnh Lord of the Rings của J.R.R. Tolkien về vị trí thứ hai, chỉ kém Pride and Prejudice.
